A Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging study of an investigational medication in adults with painful distal sensory polyneuropathy.
- At least 18 years of age
- Average pain score of 4 to 9 out of 10 over the past 7 days at screening, and willingness to record a daily pain score throughout the study
- Painful distal sensory polyneuropathy (diabetic or non-diabetic) for at least 6 months, mainly symmetrical in the feet and legs (with or without the hands), with gradual onset and stable symptoms, from a known cause (such as diabetes, toxic exposure, nutritional, immune, infectious, or hereditary) or with no known cause
- DN4 questionnaire score of 4 or more out of 10
- At least one sensory sign on examination: decreased sensation to light touch or pinprick, allodynia to brushing, hyperalgesia to pinprick, or a reflex abnormality
